After training for years in Kung Fu and attaining a Second Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Louis decided to pursue his desire to learn a system of self-defense, which concentrates on practical, real world situations. While practicing martial arts in many forms, Louis realized that none of the systems that he had trained in dealt very effectively with simple defenses against weapons, especially guns. After some research into a practical and efficient system of self-defense, Louis discovered Krav Maga. Krav-Maga is a revolutionary system of the Israeli Military hand-to-hand combat. It is considered by many experts to be one of the most devastating martial systems taught to the civilian quarter, and is based upon the arts taught to the Israeli Defense Force units. Louis felt that Krav Maga was a system best suited to deal with the ever-changing realities of the streets. He felt most systems never evolved to deal with the current trends and tactics of today’s predator aggressors. Louis’s study of Krav Maga showed him that the system would prepare a person for true street combat situations.

While in Florida, Louis was introduced to Krav Maga. Louis Charron became a Level 3 Instructor in Commando Krav Maga, being personally trained by the system’s creator Moni Aizik. Louis is now going back to the roots of Krav Maga.

 Louis Charron has earned a personal invitation to train with Krav Maga Global Founder Eyal Yanilov, having completed the first phase of Advanced Instructor Training. Through continuing training, Close Combat and Fitness, LLC is in the process of becoming a Krav Maga Global Affiliate School. 

While in the process of opening Close Combat and Fitness, Louis befriended Myron Guedet creator and lead instructor for the Alpha Hornet tactical defense weapon. The style and methodology of the weapon fits perfectly with Krav Maga.  Learning from Myron, Louis became one of the first Certified Instructors with the Alpha Hornet.
